Puppy Classes

The new puppy, lovely, cuddly, sweet - until the piddling on the carpet,
the chewing of furniture and shoes, the whining in the night and so on!!
What’s that? “Not my pup, I’d never let that happen”?
The reality is that unless this is addressed from the start it can, and probably will, happen with any pup!!
So why not learn how to prevent it by attending our Puppy Classes? We can even help you find the right puppy for you and your family, supply gear reasonably priced so you are prepared for when puppy arrives.
We start with one-on-one sessions, then if you wish you can graduate
to our Pet Dog Manners Class, which will help you to teach your pup the
basics of social and acceptable behaviour.
Our sessions are held in safe and secure surroundings which encourage the pups to explore and extend themselves.

Pet Dog Manners Classes
The objectives of these classes are to have fun with your dog while creating
an environment where the dog wants to listen to and be with you because
you are more interesting than anything else around. At times some of the
dogs may have to be disciplined but where possible this will be avoided.
Your time in these classes will continue until we have achieved the desired
results and from there you can go on to one of our other dog sports. Within
these classes you will also get the opportunity to try some of the other
disciplines once we have achieved basic control of your dogs.
• Flyball
Racing
over low hurdles (sized to suit your dog) touch Flyball box with foot
to retrieve a ball and race back. If your dog is not ball focused a toy
may be used. Learn the basics and take part in fun competition!
• Eukanuba - Canine Good Citizen™
The purpose of the Eukanuba Canine Good Citizen™ is to ensure our favourite
companion, the dog, can be a respected member of the community because
it is trained and conditioned to act with good manners in the home, in
public, and in the presence of other dogs.
For more detailed information go to http://www.nzkc.org.nz
• Rally-O
For
dogs with a basic obedience level that would like to add a little variety
to their training!
Rally-O is the next big thing in dog sports!
Rally-O goes beyond the typical obedience class by incorporating up to
50 preset movements through a planned course.
Dog and owner, at their own pace, complete the course of designated stations.
Each station has a sign providing instructions describing the skill that
is to be performed. Rally O is a fun and challenging way to improve your
dog's obedience!
Agility Training
Agility training is incorporated as part of certificate training.
Please contact Colin Broadhurst at barlin@clear.net.nz

Agility is held on both Saturday and Sunday mornings, as an adjunct to
the other classes on offer. It is a fun way to enjoy an introduction to
this dog sport, training to a beginner competition level.
Beginners Pre-Agility Training
This is held according to interest, as a four week course Pre-agility
is for dogs between 12-18 months old (and often older dogs to help with
the basic experience of agility). This class introduces agility - jump
basics, learning a simple weave, some 'contact' training, and tunnels.
Advanced Pre-Agility Training
This session is ongoing for those handlers that have completed the pre-agility,
and wish to train to beginner competitor status/ or just to continue training
their dogs in agility.
Cost: $20 per session.
Competition Training

Janice will guide you through the training of your dog until you enter the ring for the first time. Janice will ensure that she or one of her team is with you to help with registration and warm-ups, and be at the ringside to support you all the way through. If you wish, your round can be videotaped for you to watch afterwards (you can never remember what happened when you come out of the ring!!).
Following the competition, Janice will work with you to improve your performance ready to progress through the Obedience Tests on your way to attaining Championship status!!
